Best-in-class equipment: investment for quality assurance and optimum reliability
We invest in the equipment our customers need to ensure we can fulfil their requirements, whether bespoke, small-scale, or mass volume.
We value our position as a UK manufacturing company, and as part of the UK manufacturing supply chain: for speed, reliability, and quality.
Take a look at our current specifications, or contact us for any bespoke requirements you may have – our Engineering Team will be pleased to advise and assist.
Cable Processing Equipment
We can offer the best possible solution to meet your production requirements, and ensure the on-going quality of products to meet yours and your customers’ needs.
We use Artos & Komax Wire Preparation Equipment, to process a wide range of cable and wire – from single-stranded, single-core, through to multi-stranded, multi-core cables.
Our machines allow us to cut to length, strip and to label a variety of cable gauges both quickly and efficiently.
A variety of stripping options can be set, independently for each end of the cable – providing flexible options for both high- and low-batch runs.
Where customers require a high volume of cable to be quickly processed, we can call on our fully-automated Komax Gama 225, Artos CR11 and Artos MTX machines. With up to six programmable work stations, cable can be cut and stripped, twisted, tinned and / or crimped – in any sequence – efficiently, and to a consistent quality standard.
Incorporated into these machines are crimp force analysers, automatically monitoring the crimping forces used for every terminal where they are applied. Any defect crimps are automatically removed from the cable – separated from the rest of the batch by an automatic sorter to prevent progression through the manufacturing process.
Our production process incorporates the Artos CS-326, with its own PC interface, allowing us to store all relevant machine functions, including: cable size; cut lengths, and strip lengths. This facility enables us to process each product more rapidly, reducing lead-time on repeat orders. We have made recent modifications to this equipment, allowing it to manage longer cuts even more effectively.
Crimping Presses and Equipment
Where automatic crimping isn’t an option, our customers can use our semi-automatic Mecal, Gamma, Kristen & Takbro Presses to apply un-insulated and pre-insulated terminals.
Our Kirsten Stripper Crimper, Mecal TT and Gamma Presses include crimp force monitoring, automatically checking the crimp forces used for every terminal applied, and ensuring the quality of the crimping process is maintained from beginning to end for each batch.
For large gauge wire or loose piece terminals, we use our EM6B2 and EC64 Power Crimpers, and any Bootlace Ferrules are applied using our semi-automatic MC25 Max-Crim crimper.
Economies of scale work here. Where we can operate these machines for large or repeat orders, procuring large quantities of terminals on reels, then we can reduce the overall material costs for your products – another saving which we pass directly to you, our customer.
At Convert, we also hold a large range of applicator tooling, for use with a wide range of terminals and connector styles, including: Hirose, ITT, JAE, JST, Molex, Takbro, and Tyko. For small and prototype batches, we hold an extensive range of hand-tools which work with a wide range of terminal styles.
Whatever the scale of your product requirements, all crimping operations at Convert are considered a critical assembly stage. As such, they are always subject to our Quality Control process – inspected by our professional team before progressing to the next assembly operation.

Product Assembly Equipment
With a wide range of both automatic and hand tools at our facility, our skilled and highly-trained staff can build your cable harnesses and assemblies efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Our latest equipment list includes:
- Fully-automatic Panduit cable tie system: up to six times faster than using manual cable ties around cable harnesses and assemblies.
- JQ-6100 Sleeve & Wire Cutting machine: enabling us to cut large volumes of heatshrink accurately and to the correct length
- Techchon Sealant Dispenser: accurately dispensing low-, medium-, and high-viscosity fluids. Perfect for assemblies requiring sealant to be applied as part of the manufacturing process.
- Halo Blaze Heatshrink cutting machine and Heatshrink Processing machine, used in conjunction with traditional heat guns, and to cut and fit Heatshrink to cable assemblies, wherever required.
- Quick 202D & Thermaltronics solder stations, used to solder cable assemblies to a variety of components. Where required, we also use the Quick 870 Hotplate is used to help pre-heat components during the solder process.
- A Kingspan Cable Twisting Machine – used, when appropriate, to twist multiple wires together quickly and accurately.
- An Ondal Taper S Automatic Taping Machine: this allows us to finish a cable harness in harness tape, as an alternative to other coverings such as braid or heatshrink. This machine efficiently wraps all types of tapes around a cable harness, including those specifically designed for use in automotive applications.
- A Travin TP1 Injection Moulding Machine – for the manufacture of grommets and other over-mouldings used on cable harnesses.
All of our product assembly equipment helps to reduce product assembly time – reducing manufacturing costs, and increasing the savings we can pass directly to customers.
In addition to our automatic assembly facilities, we have a wide range of hand crimping tools, allowing us to produce samples, prototypes and small batches of assemblies – cost-effectively, but still to the highest quality standards.
Product Testing and Inspection Equipment:
We use a comprehensive range of product testing and inspection equipment, at every stage of production and through to final inspection before shipping, all to ensure that we produce and deliver the highest quality products.
- Our Mecmesin Advanced Forge Pull Testers validate the quality of the crimped terminations we produce. These testers measure the tension force required to pull apart or separate the components of a wire crimp.
This helps to ensure that crimp joints are fit-for-purpose, ensuring the safety and the quality of your products and their compliance with any required industry standards.
The AFG-1000N Tester is used for pull tests up to 1000 Newtons, and the ILC-S 2500N is used where pull tests up to 2500 Newtons are required.
- Our CFA1000 Crimp Force analyser system enables us to check the quality of all crimping operations carried out on our presses. Data from this analyser helps our Quality Control staff to ensure that the consistent quality of the crimping process is maintained from the beginning to the end of each batch of terminals, throughout.
- Our SLE SBL Micro Crimp Cross Section Lab allows us to split a terminal in half, and to photograph the section to help validate the crimping process.
We can provide test results from this process to customers, together with those from the Mecmesin Pull Tester, to demonstrate both the quality and compliance of our manufacturing process.
- We have Cirrus & Pambry Cable Harness Test Equipment, used to electrically test all relevant products. This test equipment incorporates bespoke test fixtures, designed to prove the functionality of each and every product, both at in-process and final inspection stages.
